FindRecording should be usable by everyone working in and around recording, whatever technology they use to get there.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We are not claiming certification — we are telling you the standard we build and test against, and we treat access problems as bugs rather than feature requests.

Some content on FindRecording is written and uploaded by other users. Where a profile or listing has missing image descriptions or unclear content, tell us and we will work with the owner to fix it.

Accessibility controls on every page

The accessibility button sits in the bottom-left corner of every page. Open it with a click or with the keyboard, use Escape to close it, and your choices are remembered in this browser.

Increase and decrease text size
Scales all text between 90% and 150% without breaking the layout.
High contrast
Raises text and border contrast against the dark interface.
Grayscale
Removes colour for people who find colour distracting or hard to process.
Highlight links
Underlines and outlines every link so they stand out from surrounding text.
Reduce motion
Turns off animations and transitions across the site.
Readable font
Switches to a plainer typeface with looser letter and line spacing.
Reset
Returns every setting to its default.

How the site is built

  • Semantic HTML with a single main landmark, real headings and labelled navigation.
  • Keyboard access throughout, with a skip-to-content link and visible focus states.
  • Accessible names on icon-only buttons and controls.
  • Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
  • prefers-reduced-motion is respected everywhere, in addition to the manual control.
  • Layouts tested down to 360px wide with tap targets sized for touch.
